INDIANAPOLIS - Project Lead The Way (PLTW) President and Chief Executive Officer Dr. Vince Bertram has been appointed to serve on the Indiana State Board of Education (SBOE).
The SBOE is a bipartisan board, established by the Indiana General Assembly, tasked with overseeing state K-12 education policymaking. The board is comprised of 11 individuals who represent a range of urban, suburban, and rural school districts and come from diverse educational backgrounds. The newly-appointed SBOE is comprised of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and individuals who have served at all levels of education – from teachers to superintendents. Other members are active in their communities and serve in leadership roles personally and professionally.
As the former superintendent of Indiana’s third-largest urban school district, the U.S. Department of State’s Speaker and Specialist on STEM education, and president and chief executive officer of the nation’s leading STEM education organization, Bertram possesses a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and leadership experience that will prove valuable in his service to the students of Indiana.
Bertram’s term on the SBOE will begin June 1, 2015, and will run through June 30, 2017. His appointment to the board will provide students across Indiana with a tremendous advocate for widespread access to STEM education, technology, and opportunities that prepare them for success in college and their careers.
