INDIANAPOLIS – Baltimore Ravens guard John Urschel, an accomplished mathematician, will deliver a keynote address on the importance of early exposure to math and science education at Project Lead The Way’s PLTW Summit 2016, the group announced today.
Registration opened today for the conference, which will take place March 20-23, 2016, in Indianapolis.
The PLTW Summit will bring together more than 1,500 guests from education, government and business sectors who are committed to empowering students to thrive in an evolving world.

Urschel is in his second season as an offensive guard for the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens. An outspoken proponent of math and science education for all students, he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mathematics from Penn State University, where he played college football, and co-authored a paper published this year in the Journal of Computational Mathematics. Urschel writes a column for The Players’ Tribune — an online sports journal founded by retired New York Yankees’ future Hall of Fame shortstop Derek Jeter — called “Math Meets Football,” where he analyzes advanced statistics.
