PLTW Named Best Place to Work in Indiana for 2nd Year

INDIANAPOLIS (May 2, 2014) – For the second year in a row, Project Lead The Way (PLTW) has been recognized as one of the best employers in Indiana. It is an honor the organization has received each year since relocating to Indianapolis. At an awards banquet hosted by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce Thursday evening, PLTW was named the number three Best Place to Work among medium-sized companies in Indiana for 2014.

“It is truly an honor to be recognized as a best place to work in Indiana,” said PLTW president and CEO Dr. Vince Bertram. “We take great pride in our team, and I am privileged to work every day with such outstanding people who help us achieve our mission of preparing America’s students for the global economy.”

PLTW is proud of its inclusive, close-knit culture that stresses equal opportunity, professional development, and an open-door policy with executive leadership. Employees receive generous paid time off and enjoy a flexible schedule with the ability to work from home to promote work-life balance. PLTW offers substantial retirement benefits and free financial advising to employees, pays 100 percent of employee health insurance premiums, and offers group term-life insurance and disability benefits, as well as generous parental leave. Professional development opportunities for employees include Lean and Six Sigma training and support for professional memberships and industry certifications. Team-building activities include monthly lunches for staff and “Breakfast with the CEO”, softball and bowling leagues, and annual office-wide community service and social activities.

This year’s Best Places awards recognized 100 companies across four categories from throughout the state for setting the standard with their workplace practices. The awards are handled by the Best Companies Group, which receives thousands of applications from companies in Indiana. A two-part, intensive process follows, during which the committee evaluates each company’s workplace policies, practices, and demographics, along with an employee survey to measure employee experience. The company survey was worth approximately 25 percent of the total evaluation, and the employee survey was worth approximately 75 percent. Over 95 percent of PLTW employees completed this survey. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.

“All of the organizations on the list understand the positive business impact of making employees feel valued,” said Indiana Chamber president and CEO Kevin Brinegar. “We are pleased to recognize them for such model workplace practices.”

The Best Places to Work in Indiana awards program was created in 2006 to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment in Indiana, benefiting the state's economy, its workforce and businesses.
