PLTW recognized for Aerospace Education Achievement
INDIANAPOLIS – The Air Force Association (AFA) honored Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Wednesday evening with the Chairman’s Award for Aerospace Education Achievement, recognizing PLTW’s special or sustained achievement in support of the AFA education mission.
PLTW President and CEO Vince Bertram and PLTW Director of Instruction Gerald Holt accepted the award at the 2018 National Air, Space, and Cyber Convention – the nation’s premier event for defense and aerospace professionals around the world that brings together Air Force senior leaders and experts from government, industry and academia.
“We are honored to receive this award, humbled to be here, and inspired by what you do,” Bertram said when receiving the award. “What a privilege to live in the greatest country in the world because of you and the work you do every day to protect our nation and preserve our freedoms. Our mission is to empower students to thrive in this evolving world. That’s why we enjoy working with so many of you to bring real-world learning to our students.”
PLTW’s PreK-12 pathways in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science transform teaching and learning, empowering students with the STEM knowledge and skills that they will use both in school and for the rest of their lives, on any career path they choose. Through hands-on learning opportunities, PLTW students explore careers, design solutions to real-world challenges, and become independent, confident problem solvers, highly sought-after by both colleges and universities, as well as employers, such as Lockheed Martin.
