INDIANAPOLIS (Oct.15, 2015) – Jason Silva, an accomplished television host and filmmaker, will deliver a keynote address on the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education at Project Lead The Way’s PLTW Summit 2016, the group announced today.
“PLTW Summit 2016 is the destination for educators, business leaders and student advocates to share strategies for engaging students in the subjects that will prepare them for in-demand jobs,” said Dr. Vince Bertram, PLTW president and CEO. “As the host of ‘Brain Games,’ Jason Silva has engaged new audiences in science and math, and PLTW shares that vision for creating innovative ways to make these subjects relevant for students from kindergarten through high school.”
Silva currently serves as the host of the National Geographic Channel’s Emmy-nominated series, “Brain Games,” which uses experts in cognitive science, neuroscience and psychology, as well as audience participation, to explore the unique components of the human brain. Silva is also the creator of “Shots of Awe,” a successful web series of micro-documentaries exploring creativity, innovation, the co-evolution of humans and technology, futurism and the human condition.
A self-professed “wonder junkie” and philosopher, Silva earned an undergraduate degree in film and philosophy from the University of Miami, going on to spend six years as a presenter on Current TV before joining National Geographic.
Silva has spoken at events such as TEDGlobal, Google’s Zeitgeist Conference, the Tribeca Film Festival, The Economist Ideas Festival, and the main stage at SXSW Interactive.
PLTW Summit 2016 is the premier gathering of passionate and committed individuals who work together every day to empower students to develop the knowledge and skills they need to thrive in an evolving world.
