PLTW Becomes Accredited Provider of IACET

INDIANAPOLIS - The International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) has awarded Project Lead The Way (PLTW) the industry-respected Accredited Provider status. IACET Accredited Providers are the only organizations approved to offer IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

“PLTW is proud to provide teachers with an engaging and inspiring learning experience and unparalleled classroom support,” said PLTW Senior Vice President and Chief Program Officer David Greer. “Our partnership with IACET is a demonstration of our commitment to our educators and excellence in the classroom.”

“We are pleased to welcome PLTW as one of our newest Accredited Provider organizations,” said Lori Schnaider, IACET chair.  “PLTW joins over 600 organizations around the world that have had their programs vetted by third-party experts in continuing education and training to ensure the highest possible standards are met.”

PLTW’s professional development is designed to create dynamic learning experiences for educators through powerful and flexible instructional support, as well as an ongoing professional community. PLTW’s approach to professional development prepares educators to lead the engaging PLTW experience in their classrooms and also provides continuing support.

One of the phases of PLTW’s professional development is Core Training, which immerses teachers in a hands-on, collaborative learning environment that challenges them to look at their classroom in a new way. Teachers take on the role of a student, engage in in-depth exploration of PLTW coursework, and gain invaluable experience to take back to their classrooms. Core Training helps teachers build skills and confidence around PLTW’s activity-, project-, and problem-based (APB) approach, and empowers them to bring learning to life through their PLTW program.

Starting June 1, 2017, PLTW will begin awarding IACET CEUs to all teachers who successfully complete their PLTW Core Training program. From June through August, PLTW will offer 650 Core Training sessions with over 13,800 available seats to teachers across the U.S.

In order to achieve Accredited Provider status, PLTW completed a rigorous application process, including a review by an IACET site visitor, and successfully demonstrated adherence to the 10 categories of the ANSI/IACET 1-2013 Standard addressing the design, development, administration, and evaluation of its programs. The recognition period is for five years, at which time, PLTW can be re-evaluated. This accreditation covers all PLTW programs and courses currently offered, as well as those created during the five-year accreditation period.
