DAYTON, Ohio - Chaminade Julienne STEMM (science, technology, engineering, math, and medicine) program alumnus Cameron Ingram was named the University of Cincinnati College of Engineering and Applied Sciences (CEAS) engineer of the month for October 2013.

"Cameron has made strides in his department and field, taking on leadership roles, and clearly earned his spot as one of 12 CEAS students to earn this prestigious award," said Kayla Ritter, UC CEAS program coordinator. The 2009 CJ graduate was selected by a board of faculty and staff from a pool of more than 100 fellow nominees following a holistic review of his academic performance and community involvement.

As a fifth-year senior, Cameron maintains a 3.94 GPA while majoring in biomedical engineering and minoring in medical science. He has received the Choose Ohio First Scholarship, served as president of the school’s Biomedical Engineering Society, and completed two co-ops while dually enrolled in UC CEAS and the UC College of Medicine as an undergraduate.

In 2008-09, Cameron was among the first group of CJ students to enroll in Project Lead The Way (PLTW) courses during the school's inaugural year integrating the nationally renowned biomedical sciences and engineering curriculum. Chaminade Julienne, located in downtown Dayton, is now the only dually certified PLTW Catholic high school in Ohio.

Cameron has been accepted and will enroll as a graduate student in UC's medical school next summer. He is currently working to finish his senior capstone project at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center and actively volunteering as director of quality improvement in a clinical internship at the Crossroad Health Center in Over-the-Rhine, an urban neighborhood in downtown Cincinnati.

The school serves 660 students and families from more than 50 zip codes who seek a Catholic educational experience and excellent academic opportunities. CJ became the first Catholic high school in Ohio to be dually certified in biomedical sciences and pre-engineering by Project Lead The Way (PLTW) in June 2011, and continues to be one of just three dually certified PLTW schools in the Miami Valley. For more than 125 years, CJ has been located at 505 S. Ludlow Street, Dayton, OH, three minutes north of the University of Dayton, a fellow Marianist institution.
