Project Lead The Way (PLTW) teachers take the stage at the John Deere Inspire Conference to reflect on their learning experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic and to discuss the future of instruction with support from John Deere grants.
Angela Lurvey is a PLTW Launch teacher at Ozark West Elementary School in Ozark, Missouri. Like so many teachers, she’s made major adjustments to better serve her students during the last 18 months. She’s adjusted instruction for virtual classes, limited face-to-face classes, hybrid instruction, and a range of additional challenges to the traditional classroom experience. Angela has seen her students learn new skills during this time as well.
“I was impressed at how much we learned in a short period of time. Change happens because it has to, and that's not always a bad thing." Angela Lurvey
Angela and two other PLTW teachers, Darren Hubbard and Doyle Massey, were panelists at the John Deere Inspire Conference. They talked about the support they have received through John Deere grants and how their students are benefitting from PLTW's relevant activity-, project-, problem-based (APB) learning made possible through a John Deere grant.
“The John Deere grant has allowed us to add materials to reach more students. We teach PLTW to all students in our building. This grant gives us the opportunity to increase the hands-on experience for all our students. That is extremely important in elementary school.” Angela Lurvey
