July 9, 2014 – From Missouri to Mississippi, PLTW leaders were on the road this week meeting with partners, educators, and business and industry leaders. On Monday, Vince visited Missouri S&T in Rolla, Missouri, where the affiliate university was hosting five PLTW Engineering course Core Trainings, including Computer Science and Software Engineering, and one Biomedical Science training. Accompanied by PLTW Senior Director of School Engagement David Hosick, Vince spoke with teachers and thanked them for their commitment to their students and PLTW. Vince also thanked the Missouri S&T team for their outstanding work and dedication to offering quality Core Training programs.
On Tuesday, PLTW Senior Vice President and Chief Engagement Officer David Dimmett and PLTW Vice President of the Midwest Region William White traveled to Mississippi where they met with members of the Mississippi State Legislature, as well as individuals from the Governor’s Office, the State Department of Education, Mississippi Economic Council, and Mississippi Manufacturers Association. The meetings were an excellent opportunity to share the PLTW story and to learn more about the education and workforce development issues facing the state of Mississippi.
This weekend, Vince heads to Hawaii. Arriving in Honolulu, Vince will serve as an honorary speaker to kick off the final day of competition at the 2014 International VEX Robotics Summer Games. Early next week, he will attend PLTW Launch Core Training at Aiea Elementary School in Honolulu. Thirty-six elementary teachers from across the state will take part in the state’s first Launch Core Training, hosted by PLTW Director of School Engagement Ed Dennis and several PLTW Launch Master Teachers.
