PLTW was proud to play a significant role in this year’s U.S. News STEM Solutions Conference in Austin, Texas. In its second year, the three-day conference brought together more than 2,000 leaders and visionaries in business, education, and government from around the United States to advance the agenda for national change in STEM education, policy, and workforce development. The national conference focused on targeted outcomes that create an impact to fill jobs now and advance the future of the STEM workforce.
Thanks to tremendous support from PLTW’s partner, Chevron, we had prime booth space at the event (see picture in this article) and networked with hundreds of interested business, industry, and education organizations and individuals, building excitement and interest in PLTW’s work.
PLTW President and CEO Vince Bertram represented PLTW on stage during the opening keynote presentations; PLTW was one of just three STEM organizations selected to be highlighted during this opening session. Bertram also served on a panel entitled “Transforming Career and Technical Education for the Global Economy.” When speaking about how all children deserve to have a great career and how America needs to have high expectations for all students, Bertram received a round of applause from the audience.
Lastly, the conference honored 100 CEO Leaders in STEM. Of those 100 leaders, several represent corporations that have generously supported the work of PLTW with financial contributions as well as other forms of engagement. One of those CEOs who was honored is Cargill’s Gregory Page. Click here for a video on how Cargill’s work with PLTW is transforming America’s schools in the areas where Cargill operates facilities.
